Default motherboards

i,ve been looking at a couple different motherboards with the new i7 chip set. and i've noticed the asus rampage II extreme, and the gigabyte ga-ex58 extreme. but in many of the forums and reviews i've read they seem to use the asus p6t so i was wondering is there some special secret with the p6t since it's around 100 dollars cheaper.

Not really, Rampage II Extreme is the best board out of all of those IMO. Asus P6T *I THINK* was THE FIRST Mobo out for i7, and because a bunch of reviewers jumped on the bandwagon right away, they bought just what was out there. The P6T doesn't have any special secret or anything, sure it's cheaper, but so are some of the Gigabyte boards, etc.

My System Specs

In my case, the rampage 2 extreme, with the 1" longer side (towards front of case) would cause big time cable routing issues for me.. so I had to go with something else... ended up with the P6T Deluxe after deciding against the Gigabyte and EVGA offerings..

If the rampage 2 extreme fits your budget, by all means... giver! Insane board with some neat features, like a clear CMOS button
