Default 1st build gaming rig questions

Hi everyone. Im currently researching and shopping around for my 1st rig.

Could use some help though. I need something that will last a few years of gaming provided upgrades of course. Heres what im looking at

Amd Phenom II x4 940 BE - $310
Xigmatek HDT S1283 HSF- $50
Gigabyte MA 790GP DS4H - $175
NZXT Tempest Case - $130
Corsair XMS2 DDR2 5-5-5-18 - (2x2GB) - $75
Windows Vista x64 - $145
BFG 550GS Psu - (*have)
Hd4850 w Twin Turbo HSF (*have)
Hitachi 700Gb HD (*have)
Atapi Dvd-rw drive (*have)

Total is $885.00 before shipping/taxes. I'd like to overclock the cpu right off the bat. Plus I'll probably slap a new psu/gtx280 in after a little while.

I just want to get things right the 1st time. I bought an HP Phenom 9550 with 5Gb ram two months ago. BIG mistake because its probably bottlenecked with the hd4850 alone.

Thanks for any help/thoughts. Im open to advice looking at different processor/mobo combos. Might even go for a dual core if thats a better option.

Don't get an AM2+ cpu, get an AM3, they're out shortly! AM3's will work with AM2+ and AM3 boards.

If you like overclocking? Get this cooler, Coolit Systems Domino CPU Water Cooling System AUTO-REGULATED & Maintenance Free LGA1366/LGA775/AM2 - DirectCanada

Nice and cheap! Works better than any air cooler, especially in summer.

Now, for a case. Cm690. Cheap, nasty and very user friendly.

You might run into problems with your power supply down the road!

Where's are the benchmarks that prove that? You should post links that assist your statements, but I'll help you one this one time :
CoolIT Domino A.L.C CPU Cooler Review

The Domino is a Very good cooler, but it is by no means the "best ever". An OCZ Vendetta 2 or TRUE will best it most situations and at a cost that's lower than the Domino as well. Just my $0.02

Cool, I've been interested in water cooling but figured it was in the $200+ price range.

Its funny you mentioned am3 cause I just finished reading a review about the phenom II and AM3. That coolermaster case looks pretty nice too, what would you guys recommend for a psu? I'd probably grab a 750w corsair, something that can handle newer dual gpu cards.

Looks like I'll wait for the am3, only problem is finding a mobo and ddr3 ram that won't break my wallet.

I think the Corsair TX850 would be better suited for the modern cards, especially when considering Crossfire and overclocking.

Update:

Just Ordered the parts for my build

Phenom II 940
Gigabyte MA 790GP DS4H
Corsair Tx850w
Antec 300

Should all be in my hands tommorow. I think it's a pretty solid build.

Gotta hold off on the memory and aftermarket HSF for a while.
