Best gaming PC config.

HAI guys, this is my new build which i will be recieving in about a month or so. some opinions would be nice, and just for a side note, how will it run crysis?

Intel core i7 extreme 965 3.2GHz(no clue how it will overclock with V1 cooler
3-way EVGA GTX 285's (overclocking to the SSC version)
EVGA X58 motherboard
12Gb of ram DDR3 1600MHz
NZXT 1200W power supply
Thermaltake xaser VI (filled all fan slots) *9 in total*
2 x seagate 1TB HDD
and a couple of blue-ray optical drives with some other stuff

get the i7 920 it oc's further then the 965 is much cheaper. and just as fast and faster when oced. 965 struggles to hit 4ghtz on air where as 920 can go 4ghtz and beyond. 2 285 is enough if your not playing on a 30" monitor. I recommend the rampe II extreme or the ws revolution over the evga mobo. id get the corsair 1000w hx. 12gb of ram is overkill get a nice 1600mhz 6gb kit. corsair dominator, mushkin black series or gkill pi black. that xaser case isnt very good. Id grab a tj07, pcp80, cosmos s, antec twelve, coolermaster haf, or coolermaster atcs 840. for harddrives get two velociraptors or an intel 80gb and a 1tb if your really crazy. I would just get a blu ray reader for now as bluray burners are slow right now

thats odd, the extreme has an unlocked multiplier therefore making it easier to overclock. xaser has 9 fans which is good cause im not watercooling. 12Gb is for future proof. where im buying from doesnt have ASUS rampage 2 extreme. the top of the line one is the MSI Eclipse? is it good? im gaming on a 42-inch samsung HDTV. im going to need the 1200W if im going to get all this shit. i dont think 1000W is enough. what do u think?

Unlocked multiplier is a marketing scam. Its "easier" to overclock but not better. Look at the old q6600 vs qx6850. q6600 could go waaaaay farther. 12gb wont net you any advantage at all as the 64bit os only sees 6gb. unless your moving 2560x1600 pictues around and cropping them. DO they have the WS revolution asus motherboard? get that if they do. that nazxt power supply is garabge. Drop a video card 1080p for for 3 gtx 285s is a waste. Like I said if you had a 30" 2560x1600 ok but you dont so.. the corsair 1000w hx is One the THE best psus. and is more like a 1200w in disguise. get two velociraptors in raid 0 or an intel 80gb and a 1tb wd cavier black. That case has bad cooling despite all the fans. Get one of the ones i listed above.

ok i will take the corair 1000W. im chaning to 2x GTX 295 and 6Gb of 1600MHz ram. and switching to the 940. better?. i dont want the GPU's to bottleneck. i wannted the cooler master HAF but there are no dust filters :(

ugh. dude your bottlenecking your graphics cards. 1080p doesnt require tons of horsepower. 2x gtx 285 is the max i would go for a 1080p screen anymore then that and your just wasting money on much more powerful graphics then needed. btw gtx295 sli > gtx 285 3x sli. So if you want to go that way buy a 30" monitor. 940 doesnt clock as high as high as 920. I don't know why but it just doesnt. If you dont live in a basement and you have some house cleaning skills you dont have to worry about dust filters. Although if you really want filtersgo for the lian li pc p80 because its seems you like the bling. then again your free to get whatever you want im just trying to help you so you wont waste money but its all u in the end. :p

ok, lets say i get the 920, i have no idea how to overclock so im basically screwed with a 2.66GHz processor. and i want to get at least a 3.6 overclock :(

Okay, here ill give you an example. This is an example of the pc i will be building in the next few weeks for myself:

ok, Im running this on a 21.5 inch asus 1920x1080p monitor. There is no difference between the res of your 42 tv and my monitor. the neat thing abut the rampage II extreme is if your a nooby it will basically overclock itself. Althought OCing isnt hard. The rampage II has a thing called cpu level all all you do is select a cpu above the one you have and it will set the frequency. So if you select the 965 it will put your cpu at 3.2. Also will the rampage II once you learn how to OC you could hit 4.2ghtz+ on the rampage II. Also um... are you sure you know how to build a computer....For a cooler get the Coolermaster V8, thermalright 120 or the coolit domino alc.

1. Corsair HX 1kW is suffice.
2. 920 is suffice, it will likely reach the speed of the 965 if you sneeze the right way when booting up.
3. 2 x 280's is going to be killer running through DDR3 1600 Mhz and I7 920 - even at 2.66 Ghz
4. Nix the Velociraptors and get a couple of decent Caviar Blacks (that will save you quite a bit of coin)

Now to clean up these "Myths":
1.

- I'll agree, its cheaper, but the OC'ability is fabricated nonsense

- its a superior Chip as its the "cream of the crop" unlocked multiplier and tested to higher Clocks.

- Caviar Blacks are near as fast and quieter, hardly justifiable to spend $600+ dollars on a "cool" name.

- What??? My MOBO I have on order is capable of handling 24 GB of Memory on Vista 64 Bit - more garbage info!

btw gtx295 sli > gtx 285 3x sli.

- Haven't seen the Benches on this but I would say that is also incorrect, without confirmation I'd tend to say the Tri Sli set-up will likley Bench higher and provided the games are optimized correctly should yield higher FPS. Think of it this way - Tri Sli GTX 260's is FASTER than GTX 280 SLI, that I know for sure!

Anyhow, seems a lot of "myths" stated to the OP, take em with a grain of salt :)
