Total for everything with shipping is 3500. So exactly my budget. An suggestions would be helpful! Also, with cases I dont want a cheap, tacky case like a coolermater haf or antec 900 or something. It needs to have removable mobo tray, but I am pretty keen on the 840.

also if anyone wants to no... my other peripherals are....

razer mako
razer death addder
razer pirahna
razer destructor mat
razer lycosa
(got on boxing day for 500 Dollars!!!)
asus 21.5 inch 1920x1080 2ms response
dlink dgl4500 router
4gb Patriot Xporter USB stick

2 suggestions:

That PSU is overkill, and I'm not familiar with that brand. An 850w should run that system at load, a 1000w would for sure. And that case is totally enclosed (no window) you could save some cash by not going modular. Look at these:
Corsair TX850W 850W CMPSU-850TX 12V 70A 24PIN AT Power Supply Active PFC 140M Fan Powersupply - DirectCanada
Corsair HX1000W CMPSU-1000HX 1000W ATX 20/24PIN ATX 80A 12V Afc Modular Power Supply W/ 140MM Fan - DirectCanada

And I'm not a fan  of Coolermaster fans. Pick up some Yate Loons, they're a lot quieter than the CM's (I have both).
Yate Loon D12SL-12 120MM RED/BLACK Fan 1350RPM 47CFM 28DB 3/4PIN Sleeve Bearing OEM Sleeved Retail - DirectCanada

Awesome build, you'll have lots of fun when it's done.

+1 for the YLs. Great bang for the buck. :)

Why dual Raptors? I purchased SSDs and love them - no more Raptors, noise and heat for me.

Also, the CoolIt Donimo may not be enough to properly cool that 920. High-end air a la TRUE 120 is much better. If you really want water, then a custom setup is the way to go.

guys i really need some help with psu gpu optical drive. everything else is pretty much set in stone. (might consider those fans)

should i go for:

2x gtx 280

psu im thinking the corsair HX1000w or the In Win 1200w since its cheaper when I combo it with the 285 but with that only.
any ideas?

Also, which is the most quiet fastest optical drive?

bojangles January 18, 2009 12:43 PM

Sounds like someone isn't being hit by the economic crunch. Congrats.

The rig looks great. The reason why I would change the PSU to Corsair like everyone else is because of their customer support and their proven products.

Oh and BrianHanna I completely agree with you about the LOL thing. Not nice. But hey, public forum, open speech.

OMG9950 January 18, 2009 12:47 PM

ok what about the gpu(s) and optical drive? btw Im only 15 years old and im been working + saving up christmas money/birthday money. I have quite a bit of money saved up.

BrianHanna January 18, 2009 01:08 PM

2 x gtx 285 imo

rjbarker January 18, 2009 03:02 PM

1. Corsair HX 1kW
2. 2 x GTX 280 SSC (great prices right now)
3. As was mentioned spending upwards of $600 on two HD's is rediculous, especially for a 15 yr old on a Budget better to go WD Caviar Black 640GB x 2
4. Silverstone TJ 09 / 10
5. As was mentioned a True 120 would be suffice, they're providing very good results in OC the 920.

PS A few folks have already provided you with very valid and constructive criticism / points of which you completely "shut them down" with "Well, I saw this comment on the Web Site".....so if you're heart is set on what you've chosen, why post that you're looking for input? Seem another one just recently on here that insisted on a I7 965.
Anyhow, regardless of your response to my suggestions. thats it. Remember, most folks that provide advice on here are basing thier advice not so much on what they've read, but either what they have personally experienced or what fellow posters have experienced.

Good luck with your build.

i dont understand why i must get a true 120 when the domin alc from coolit has better peformance at the same price + quiter I have not got any reason. Just get true cause trues good. Velociraptors are very fast and thought expensive are very much worth the price difference. Im not really on a budget, but im also not trying to waste money but velociraptors arnt a waste of money like a i7 965 is. Those silverstone cases look very nice but expensive when the atcs 840 is larger better airflow more features and at a lower price. I think im going to go with the 1000w hx. Yes the gtx 280 are at a good price point but the 4870x2 from ati is 539.99 on newegg with a 50 usd mir. so im still not sure :/
