Default might possibly need to build new comp, need ideas

Okay, so when I built the rig in my sig, it cost about 2000CAD, and it got...err...fried...yeah, let's go with that...

so it might be fixable, it might not...so in case it isn't I need to start planning it's replacement.

So, with that price point, core i7 is where I'm looking to go. what components should I go with?

I'm probably not going to use SLI, so I could use that <300CAD mobo that only supports crossfire to save some money there and invest it somewhere else since I saw prices have gone up...

I'll be using it to game, 22" Screen, ~2000.00CAD budget, I built my last rig (may it RIP) and I don't plan on overclocking.

Core i7 920 - 400$
Mobo ?? - 350$
GFX card GTX 260 - 280?
Case
HDD WD 6400AAKS
Ram - 3 - 6GB DDR3 1333-1600?
Optical Drive

I would also need a copy of windows vista home premium 64bit edition.

anyway, run some ideas by me...pretty bummed out at the moment...

You want to upgrade or need to? Your whole system can't be dead, just one component.

well, we're still trying to figure out which, but like I said, I either need to borrow a buddies computer or bring it to a shop because I don't have any parts to cross reference to figure out which part it is...

it's booting up to a certain point and then just shutting down by itself...

Ram. Always try to see if it's that first.

Take it to a shop and ask them to cross-reference what's wrong with it for you. Typically, in order of faultyness (or so through my experiences), it's RAM, then CPU, then MB, then Vid card, then HDD, then PSU, but sometimes PSU can go upwards on the list if it's a cheaper one.

well, my first advice is for you to figure out which part(s) is fried. Until then, you won't know if you can re-use some components.
good luck!

Funny prices doesn't say that now its over 2K and the bundled savings is $1.41 am I missing something here? Don't get me wrong its a pretty solid setup but I just don't see the savings.
