Cool Couple "O" questions 'bout building GigaP45/q9300 today

Hi,
Built one about 4 years ago; time to up it a notch. Here's some q's

There are 8 Sata ports and 2 "GSata" ports. Should my C-Drive be on the regular or the "G" ????

Got a zippidy-doo-da Arctic Cooler 7 pro cuz the reviews of the CPU said it had a lousy stock heat sinc. Do I REALLY need any heat-grease-goop or is the "pre-greased" grease greasey enough? ;)

The CPU's FSB says 1333 @ 2.5ghz, the GaEp45-ud3p says 1600/1333, got DDR2 1066 RAM. Will the Mobo automagically max the default settings combination, or do I have to dive into the 232,443,952-option bios to tweak it up a bit (if so, I'll cya in the OC forum )
Thanks

The AC 7 Pro ships with a decent thermal grease (either MX1 or MX2) so you'll be fine so long as you don't need to reseat the hsf too many times.

Your memory will default to DDR2 800 speeds so you'll need to manually adjust the memory up to 1066.

I believe the GSATA ports are on a different controller (my P35-DS4 has this feature as well). You'll want to keep your hard drive(s) on the regular SATA ports controlled by the Intel ICH southbridge for best performance. I'd only use those two other ports if you run out of the other six on the ICH.

Roger wilco. I used the "regular" SATA's and got what I needed.

Here's a lesson: be careful when pullin out SATA data cables!!!! I snapped the plastic L-tab that "protects" the metal pins on the HD. With a tweezers and crazy glue I got it reinstalled & the PC recognizes it just fine! Whew...what a releif.

Depending on ram and motherboard you probably will have issues with a quad trying to run your ram @ 1066. Its best to get your system stable with 1:1 and then work from there.
