Cool Q9550 4GB of DDR2 RAM GTX280
Hiya,

I am looking to make a modest upgrade to my PC.

I am currently on an ASUS A8N32-Sli with a dog slow X2 3800+

What am trying to do is build on a board that will support:

4GBs of Corsair DDR2/1066 RAM
an Intel Q9550 Quad

I have a GTX280 OC of the BFG variety

I have the RAM already so I am restricted to the DDR2 boards, which I have no problem with.

It's the MoBo I am really looking for

when you buy p5q then dont forget to flash it to v1406... v1306 have stable problem with quad core cpu...

It does not matter that this board is supposedly intended for ATI cards (crossfire)

Its not intended for any cards.

It supports crossfire if you wish to use that.

But either brand of cards can be used with this board no problems.

I find it puzzling that so many people think that just because Intel chipset's support crossfire, that its only for ATi cards. If your not doing SLi(only reason on S775 to go with an nVidia chipset IMO), then Intel chipset's are some of the best chipset's you can get, nVidia GPU's included.

Computer chipset's/motherboards are GPU agnostic. That all being said, I would wholeheartedly recommend the P5Q-E for your build.

Me. The Gigabyte boards offer a great option to the Asus boards. Even the GA-EP45-DS3L is a great board, if you don't need Raid and Crossfire.
