Alright i know most people would suggest spending money on the Intel CoreI7 but the problem i see right now is one prices are wayy too inflated right now. What i mean by that is the deals which were there about 2-3 months ago on the gear you are buying were a lot cheaper. Seriously i would not want to be in your position for example the Asus P5Q-E is what i bought i love the board i paid 163 and now ncix has it at 193.

The Seagate 7200.11 500gbs are solid im running 3 of them in this house and none have been sent to warranty yet. As much as i would like to say spend the extra on CoreI7 the cost of the ram is wayy too much for the decent kits and motherboard so if your mind is set on the old and grab a good deal unfortunetely your out of luck as all the good deals are gone from the old line of products.

My recomendations
Motherboard=Asus P5Q-E
Cpu=I would go with one of the newer 45nm Quad cores your probably going to be using this build for awhile.
Ram= Go with Ocz or Mushkin. The Reaper kits are decent i got them on my brothers Amd build i got the Redline Ascents love em.
Hard Drive- Seagate 7200.11 500gb
Dvd Drive/Burner i got the same LG sata one i think its the same model you mentioned its solid. Have not had a mess up yet.
Gpu= Really up for grabs here im biased to Nvidia so the 260 is great but i think theres new gpu's coming out or revisions so id wait and grab a deal.

****You forgot to mention Cpu cooler the stock cooler is shiat.
Get the OCZ Vandetta 2 their cheap but solid.
Hope i have helped.

P.S save your money and dont buy from store in Toronto shop online at NCIX. I used to build a lot of computer back in the day and get special deals with warehouses in Toronto/Mississauga. But 9-10 Ncix would beat it. Seriously i think they accept Debit so please shop Ncix and save PST. :)

I second Dashock's verdict..

- The P5Q-Pro is a decent alternative if it is cheaper where you are shopping...
- Maybe the Seagate 640GB it is nearly the same price...only if available though.
- I would search for a steal on the 4870 don't pay over $290 otherwise get a GTX260 core 216 either way both cards will support dual cards in the next gen boards..so by the time comes to get another card you would likely be looking at a new mobo and CPU anyway.
- I am a fan of the WD black edition HD's but I do not have one so I cant provide much merit besides that the specs make me drool.

Sapphire ATI RADEON HD 4870 512MB ----------- $294.99

Canada Computers - Video Cards > PCI-Express Cards > Powered By ATI : Sapphire ATI RADEON HD 4870 512MB GDDR5 Dual Dual-Link DVI HD Audio Shader Model 4.1 800 stream processor PCI-Express 2.0 Graphics Card.

The prices at Canada Computers are very good some times better than NCIX and I can have it on the spot.

Motherboard - P5Q-E
CPU - Q6600
Memory - 4GB (2x2GB) OCZ Reaper PC2-8500
HD - WD Black 500/640GB, go for the 640GB edition if you can.
GPU -ATi 4870, 1GB if possible

Only choices I'm gonna explain is the GPU and CPU. Go for the Q6600 because the extra cache you gain over the Q8xxx series WILL gain you better performance. Don't buy in into the 45nm hype, while most of the 45nm chips ARE better, the Q8xxx series is not. As for eh GPU, try and get the 4870 1GB version, the extra ram will help out lots when you try to crank that AA up. That being said the nVidia 260 GTX 216 Core is also a very nice card, if you can't find/get a 1GB version of the 4870, take a serious look at the 260GTX.

You can price match that price at NCIX and still save on the PST.
