Default Core i7 minimum entry cost!

What will it cost to get into a Core i7 right now? We'll assume that the case, vid card, power supply, hard drive etc is already owned and not needed. So all that is needed to get up and running with a new i7 is:
CPU
Motherboard
3GB kit of triple channel ram
I thought it might be fun to record here what the minimum cost to get into a Core i7 is at it's launch. I will come back in a few months and/or a year and update the costs to see how much cheaper it gets over time.

It was NCIX's newletter notice that prompted me to this, as I quickly added up their prices with the advertised parts.

So to start this off, I'll use what is in the notice, the prices that are given in the provided links, with the only caveat that I chose the cheapest parts.

I'm looking forward to seeing what others can do with a little price matching and component shuffling.

Post what you can come up with! We can continue with this as long as prices fluctuate and new products come out for ram and mobo.

NCIX NewsBrief Costs:

CPU $386
Intel Core I7 920 Quad Core Processor LGA1366 2.66GHZ Bloomfield 8MB LGA1366 4.8GT/S
NCIX.com - Buy Intel Core I7 920 Quad Core Processor LGA1366 2.66GHZ Bloomfield 8MB LGA1366 4.8GT/S - BX80601920 In Canada.

Mobo $375
ASUS P6T Deluxe ATX LGA1366 DDR3 LGA1366 3PCI-E16 PCI-E4 Crossfire SLI SATA2 Sas Motherboard
NCIX.com - Buy ASUS P6T Deluxe ATX LGA1366 DDR3 LGA1366 3PCI-E16 PCI-E4 Crossfire SLI SATA2 Sas Motherboard - P6T Deluxe In Canada.

RAM $171
Corsair XMS3 TR3X3G1333C9 3GB DDR3 3X1GB DDR3-1333 CL 9-9-9-24 Triple Channel Memory Kit
NCIX.com - Buy Corsair XMS3 TR3X3G1333C9 3GB DDR3 3X1GB DDR3-1333 CL 9-9-9-24 Triple Channel Memory Kit - TR3X3G1333C9 In Canada.

Total $932

It should be super easy to beat these prices, but lets see by how much and who can get it down the most.

I'm going to throw in an optional premium package using the Rampage Formula II Extreme just because it is so cool with the overclocking dials and multimeter read points. Might as well calculate what some better ram would do to the price too:

CPU $386
Intel Core I7 920 Quad Core Processor LGA1366 2.66GHZ Bloomfield 8MB LGA1366 4.8GT/S
NCIX.com - Buy Intel Core I7 920 Quad Core Processor LGA1366 2.66GHZ Bloomfield 8MB LGA1366 4.8GT/S - BX80601920 In Canada.

Mobo $495
ASUS Rampage II Extreme ATX LGA1366 DDR3 3PCI-E16 2PCI-E1 PCI Crossfire SLI Motherboard
NCIX.com - Buy ASUS Rampage II Extreme ATX LGA1366 DDR3 3PCI-E16 2PCI-E1 PCI Crossfire SLI Motherboard - Rampage II Extreme In Canada.

RAM $171
Corsair XMS3 TR3X3G1333C9 3GB DDR3 3X1GB DDR3-1333 CL 9-9-9-24 Triple Channel Memory Kit
NCIX.com - Buy Corsair XMS3 TR3X3G1333C9 3GB DDR3 3X1GB DDR3-1333 CL 9-9-9-24 Triple Channel Memory Kit - TR3X3G1333C9 In Canada.

Total $1052

And with DDR3-1600 ram...

CPU $386
Intel Core I7 920 Quad Core Processor LGA1366 2.66GHZ Bloomfield 8MB LGA1366 4.8GT/S
NCIX.com - Buy Intel Core I7 920 Quad Core Processor LGA1366 2.66GHZ Bloomfield 8MB LGA1366 4.8GT/S - BX80601920 In Canada.

Mobo $495
ASUS Rampage II Extreme ATX LGA1366 DDR3 3PCI-E16 2PCI-E1 PCI Crossfire SLI Motherboard
NCIX.com - Buy ASUS Rampage II Extreme ATX LGA1366 DDR3 3PCI-E16 2PCI-E1 PCI Crossfire SLI Motherboard - Rampage II Extreme In Canada.

RAM $383
Corsair XMS3 TR3X6G1600C9 6GB DDR3 3X2GB DDR3-1600 CL 9-9-9-24 Triple Channel Memory Kit
NCIX.com - Buy Corsair XMS3 TR3X6G1600C9 6GB DDR3 3X2GB DDR3-1600 CL 9-9-9-24 Triple Channel Memory Kit - TR3X6G1600C9 In Canada.

Total $1264

From the looks of it, NCIX will be having a kit this Wednesday, consisting of the 920, P6T Deluxe, and I think 3GB DDR3 9-9-9. Unknown pricing, but most likely under $932.

Gigabyte EX58-UD5 - $359.70

Intel i7 920 - $385.99

G-Skill F3-10666CL9 - $109.12

Total: $854.81

You can scrape a few more bucks off that price, but the places with those prices often don't have them in stock yet.

Ugh, $1000 to go to i7. So much for upgrading anytime soon lol. Hey at least people that upgrade may sell some good stuff cheap. :D
