As for HS/F I was thinking the OCZ Vendetta 2 with MX-2. Not really a huge fan of that Lian Li A05 :p
Hey now, the A05 isn't the only thing Lian Li makes , newegg has a HUGE selection of Lian Li cases, Lian Li = Style. That being said I recommend the Coolermaster 690 over the Antec 300.

Yeah, I know the A05 isn't the only thing Lian Li makes, I do like some of their cases, and I actually chose a couple out as options :p
But honestly the one that I think look good are their more expensive cases, and if I can find room in the budget, I might just choose one of them, because they are sexy. But I'd also like to look at my other options, and I heard alot of good about the 690, but also am keeping my options open :)

a major question here:
I am almost sold on the vendetta 2, my only problem is the mounting system.
Could I use the Xigmatek Crossbow ACK-17751 instead of the push pin mounting? if so I will definitely get it + a Noctuna NF-P12-1300 fan :p

For you system, if you don't intend to game at all. All you need if 400-500w. Better 500W to be safe.

This is what I would get for a 1000 budget and no gaming. Are you sure that program using the graphics card? Alot of programs just used the cpu when they are rendering, even 3d stuff.

q9450- $325
That Mb is pretty good-$145
Some sort of case $60
Power supply Corsair vx550 = $82
Dvd burner $22
2x Western digital black HD 640GB = 85*2 = $170 Raid 0
Mushkin 8000 ddr2 2*2gb redline $65
OCZ vendetta 2 $ 30 dollars.
8800gs 384mb = $50

= 949 Plus tax

For your purpose, I can honestly say there can be no better system than this.

If your building this for someone else, I recommend one thing. Don't overclock too severely. If their are stability problems over time because of degradation, you don't want to be blamed for it.

Thanks for the reply, I've come up with a new build already, sorta :)
And I'd preferably like to stick with the Q6600 because of its price being lower, and that I can overclock it easily, and don't worry, it isn't a big OC, only to 3.0Ghz, were as I know from reading around it can go much higher.
New build
Cooler Master CM 690 - 99.99
Gigabyte EP45-DS3L - 126.99
Q6600 - 227.99
G.Skill 4GB 2x2GB DDR2 800 - 55.37
MSI 9600GT - 116.99 The reason I chose a slightly more powerful card is because it will be running 2 monitors at the moment, with 2 more to be added using two EVGA UV16's later on.
WD black 640GB - 89.99 figure he wont need as much hdd space as i thought. he has 2 externals for backups, and doesn't really download a hell of a lot, so this will be sufficent.
Corsair HX620 - 144.99 now I know i could go cheaper, but i use one myself and love it, and it leaves lots of breathing room and expandability if needed in the future.
Noctuna NH-U12P - 59.99 just kept reading around and this one seems good at a good price because its got the backplate, i was very worried about the vendetta 2, as i dont know how much this case will be moved, so I dont want nothing falling off.
Samsung SH-S223Q - 31.99

Will also be purchasing MX-2 for the heatsink. and as for a total it came out to 1003.05 (that total includes gst) but without the MX-2 so add about $8
comes out to 962.37 before taxes 1010.50 with gst. I guess this doesnt include shipping, but that shouldnt be too much...

Tweaking can still be done to my current build list. Because I still have time, but so far thats what I came up with :)

That power supply is overkill(hx620), it can run a 4870 x2 which consumes oodles more energy than this videocard.

Why buy them a power supply that they won't notice performance wise in any way.

The q9450 will guarantee a higher fsb since it meant to run at 1333mhz instead of 1066 as with the q6600, add in that it is 45nm processor instead of 65nm and you got a processor that has better overclocks and cooler.

That muskin ram I mentioned overclocks very nice too, much better than that gskill. Their support is also amazing.

With everything considered, the q6600 is kind of becoming an old processor.

I am pretty certain the 8800gs will run dual monitor. Even two year old radeon can do this.

Ok. I am starting to reconsider the powersupply for the vx550, but where did you get your price of 82 dollars?
NCIX prices it at 91.73 after MIR (i hate MIR)
and memory express prices it at 99.99
and newegg.ca prices it at 120.42(wtflol) or 100.42 after MIR
now as for the Q9450 I would get it but, it all comes to price.
newegg wants 403.99 and its out of stock
for the Q9400 they want 330 wich is still 100 more than the q6600
mem express wants 360 for a q9400 (cant find the 9450 on the site)
ncix wants 356 for the 9400 and 430 for the 9450.

where are you getting your 325 price point? i am in canada if your mistaking it for american, unless you know of a store that sells the q9450 for 325. but that stills is 100 dollars more than the q6600.

and i dont think im gonna budge on the 9600gt, its a great deal, and like, games will probably be played on this machine, just very rarely, but id like to keep the option open. because the person im building it for has kids and they sometimes do play computer games.
mushkin looks nice and might consider it, where are you finding it at 65 bucks id like to know, i might switch to it. unless someone knows that it sucks for compatibility with the mainboard i chose.

Price comparing through this site might help you find those muskins.
