One major problem with that build. That mobo has 2 PCIEx16 slots but the 2nd one only runs at 4x. Two 4870's would be wasted. Spend a little more for a Gigabyte EP45-DS3R or any p45 as they run at 8x when both are in use. I'm not even sure if that wouldnt be a bottleneck, maxbe just one 4870x2 would be better.

This is what I was thinking about getting.

E8400
Maximus II Formula
Gigabyte or Powercolor 4870X2
Corsair HX1000W
Corsair XMS2 Dominator DDR2-1066 4GB

As for the case, I remember seeing this awesome orange and black Voodoo PC case...anyone know where to get one of those?

Voodoo cases are custom made by Lian-Li and are custom painted. What Voodoo rig was it and when did you see it?

It's a Lian-Li case but not sure which one. One of the other guys on here might know exactly what case. I know Voodoo doesn't sell their cases even if they are older so you'd have to do some looking.

I'm thinking that maybe the 1000W psu is overkill, even with future-proofing in mind. A 750 would be better, wouldn't it?

A Corsair HX620 was pulling 791W from the wall when attempting to run 4870X2 in Crossfire mode and it was still working "fine". Just was't providing enough juice to power both 4870X2. However, since you're just going to crossfire 4850 or 4870, the HX620 is good enough. If you want to move it up a notch, then get the TX750.

If you get a modular PSU, it'll make cable management WAY easier.

Geokilla and Ballistx pretty much got a new rig covered...but it is impossible to know what the prices will be like in a few months when you go to build this..

As for your parts suggestions they are all pretty solid but the board is pricey.. once you go to the ROG Asus board your getting into pure Enthusiast boards which are great for liquid cooling and high OC (mostly bragging rights) and with X58 and Core i7 around the conrner buying enthusiast level products is a lot of money for nothing...you should be able to get a Core i7 and X58 boards for around $700 I figure and DDR3 is coming down rapidlly. It just somthing to think about.
