oops, that was a mistake was going for a 500gb

Price post updated.

I'll say wait to buy or try price matching all the components through ncix to drop the prices some.

Pricematch!! Check out Pricebat.ca and use the price compare on HWC. For instance your price on the Palit Radeon HD 4850 is $226.15... while you should be writing $186.16 (found at Palit Radeon HD 4850 512MB GDDR3 PCI-E Video Card - DirectCanada.)

So this build is overpriced, look around, don't just use NCIX prices, and it wont be so expensive. So you can afford a better case!

Find this sort of stuff on sale; it's all expensive right now leading to some less then ideal choices (the case for instance).

Course it's overpriced what with the recent currency exchange rates. I'm not finding the deals just throwing out a parts list. (with ncix referenced prices)

Added a note about rough shipping costs.

Using this sites price comparison to find the cheapest price and use ncix price matching to get reduced rate from there. (make sure the item is actually in stock at the cheap price where ever it is)

Saved $35 on everything up until the q6600. q6600 can save $50, 4850 save $25, case save $10. All using pricebat and all rather uninteresting with the exception of the cpu. A whole $120 using five sites. The ncix prices are good enough to throw a system together on. The guys buying it can do the leg work to find $10 off deals.

would a 9800GTX be better then a 4850? it's like 20 bucks cheaper I think...possibly a E8400 instead of the Q6600?

I think people side with the 4850 here for it's anti aliasing capabilities. If you shop around you should be able to close if not reverse the $20 gap. The 8400 would save you $40-50 and clock higher. Having the quads extra cores for any sort of multi-tasking is great though. I'd spend the money there.

From a couple posts back; you can strip the better part of $100-150 just shopping around and then using those links in the ncix price match to get ncix to give you a better price. Oh, and I didn't include any mail in rebates (which kinda sorta saves money). As for waiting I can't talk from experience there. I'm listening to older wiser people where longer term sales are concerned. I can say prices have jumped the last few weeks.

Let some others post here over night. There may be some good info out there in the sleeping people.

Anyone else care to comment on sales?

Save 100 if you go e8400 on the stock cooler. You miss out on the overclocking that will make the processor relevant slightly longer. The q6600 would probably oc to 3.2-3.5ghz and the e8400 should get close to 4ghz. (need the sunbeam cooler for those #'s though)
