Yep, thanks Shifty :P

With the HSF, what is the difference between 2 and the one I have listed? (apart from triple the price).

I guess I could order it seperately. What is a rough shipping estimate from NCIX? I want to get a complete monetary figure right now, and I dont feel like registering, going through the checkout process ALL the way to the end, just to see a $40 shipping charge.

edit- found it local for $55. If the shipping is more than $7, or it takes like 3 weeks, then I will just get it locally.
edit2- it is on the DC site, says unavaliable....? Nuts, it was $28 after rebate there!!!!!!

Try this one then - pretty similar results to the Vendetta 2 and a similar price:
Xigmatek HDT-S1283 Direct Touch 3 Heatpipe Heatsink AM2 LGA775 S754 S939 S940 W 120MM PWM Fan - DirectCanada

You may also want to consider the bolt-thru kit as some people have issues getting the pushpin mounting design to work properly:
Xigmatek ACK-I7751 Crossbow Mounting Kit for 3 Piece Heat Pipe for HDT-S963 HDT-S1283 RS-S1283 - DirectCanada

Both currently in stock at DC.

You know what, that looks prime. I will go with this baby and the mounting kit ( I read reviews on newegg.com, and most mentioned how bad the pushpins were). I added arctic silver 5 high density compound to the list, and my total is running about $437 before something like a 5% tax. So, Im looking at around $460.

Anything anybody forgot to mention or wanted to add, please do! :rtfm:

Thank you for your help guys.

Don't forget to order some Thermal compound if you don't already have a tube. MX-2 is my preference, but others will differ.... :)

K I am hijacking your thread a bit, sorry. Would it be worth my while to swap out my mobo and CPU for the ones in this setup (P5Q/E7200)? I have been thinking of jumping over to Intel on my desktop ever since I got my laptop and it's *cough* faster *cough* on Photoshop than my desktop. I am also seeing games get better performance out of the Intel chips too. I like the idea of a budget swap. Thanks, sorry to hijack, cheers. :)

Just a heads up, the way the Canadian dollar is going, all those parts are going to cost you significantly more in 1 months time so you should really wait to post until you're actually about to buy (say a 1 week in advance tops).

Then again, if you wait until Core i7 comes out, there might be some price drops though it's hard to say for sure.

The reason it is so far in advance is for two reasons:

1. It gives me a goal to work towards
2. Students budget... I will be making cutbacks in other areas to make up the $450. ;) Gives me time to appriciate what I am about to get. THanks for the concern though, I will try hard to get this stuff asap.

And thunder, np, it is a relevant question, seeing as how I was looking for an 'OK' for my equipment choice, and if they OK your decision to switch to what I chose, then all the better, right?

Understandable, but that $450 might not go as far as it does right now but it could possible go further. Depends how bad our dollar gets...

NCIX has been steadily increasing prices the past two weeks on basically everything.

I'm a first-year college student myself but luckily my school is paid for (parents saved enough) so any money of mine can go to my PC

Just make sure you post here once you get the money sorted out and are ready to order so we can do a final checkover or point you to current sales.
