The i7 will need a new mobo. Different socket now, right?

It'll be a year before I jump into that. Any of the current combos are fine these days, incredibly powerful. There should be some bargins for s775 once these new ones come out. It'll cost a premium to get into them at the start. Problems and bugs and updates and newer steppings means that you'll be upgrading out of it in a year anyway, so why not get mainstream now and put the premium into HQ parts?

Possible HS to concider: Sunbeam supposedly quieter/better
Monitor food for though: two-22-vs-one-24-monitor, can't speak to preferences over quality

Do you need a 1tb? cheaper 500 for storage with a smaller performance drive or a quiet 2.5" drive? (there are a lot of possible combination)
1tb price comparison through here, click, 500gb
You should take a close look at the price match feature on ncix (if you haven't already) as well as any other bundle/sale strangeness they do.

I've played games over an 802.11n connection, it is awesomely stable but I'd hope you've got a good router on the other end.
