Default Revised first build - updated 09/28

Mobo: ASUS P5QL Pro ATX = $94.34
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 = $173.85
RAM: OCZ Platinum XTC PC2-6400 = $54.95
GPU:Diamond Radeon Hd 4870X2 = $514.99
Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 250GB = $47.66
PSU: Corsair TX750W = $94.95
CASE: Antec 300 = $46.99
ETC: Arctic Cooling MX-2 = $5.99
ETC: Thermalright BOLT-THRU Kit = $5.61
ETC: OCZ Vendetta = $29.99
ETC: 120mm Green LED Fanx2= 23.62
Sub-total =1078.88
Total= 1155.06

Updated. went the OCZ Vendetta 1 since from what I hear the Vendetta 2 is larger..which I kinda dislike...either way it should preform well. After some research I found out the antec 300 does indeed have room for an 4870X2. so after going with the antec 300 I also needed some fans. I then decided to go with the antec 120mm green led fan since i wanted the whole black n green look. so yeah after some price matching I reduced the price to $1155.06 including tax and insurance.

Well, I don't think you can really go any lower on that price. Thats a fairly high end system.

What resolution do you game at? If its 1680x1050 (22" monitor or less) or lower then your probably good with a 4870 and bumping the board to the P5Q-PRO in case you want to throw in another card down the road.

If you do plan on sticking with the X2, you might wanna check the clearance with that small case. Heat also may be an issue.

I have Crysis Warhead and a 4870 and I play on all mainstream settings on a 22". It still looks excellent, and it doesn't lag at all. (Except the train part)

I think you would be better off with a bigger case, if you can find the space. Failing that, I would opt for the mini P180 (bad choice by me - m ATX only MB) vice the 300. If you can stand a larger case you will not go wrong with a Cooler Master CM 690. I am sold on it's cable management, excellent build and good fan layout. Just make sure you pick up a couple of extra fans... it comes with 3 installed but an extra one or two exhausting out the top works well.

But isn't the Mini-P180 an M-ATX case?

Damn, I missed that.. you are right. My bad. I even read a good review on Silent PC Review and missed the mATX warning at the beginning of the article.

CM 690, make room for it, you'll love it.

I see thermal paste but no heatsink...
Highly recommend OCZ Vendetta 2 or Xigmatek - grab the bolt-thru kits for an extra $6 or so.

+1 for the CM690 too
