Default Question on wireless router

Thinking of upgrading my wired router to wireless one...I would like to know if I am not using the wireless feature, will the antenna continue to send out signal??? The reason I ask that because I have very young children and worry the wireless signal could harm them.

Thanks!

#1 - Wireless signals coming from your router are always on as long as the wireless is enabled (even if the ssid broadcast is off).
#2 - If wireless signals harmed anyone then we would be Long dead. The world is filled with thousands upon thousands of these signals that are overlapping across the frequency spectrum (from AM radio to microwaves) and we dont feel it.

Many routers like my D-Link have a low/high power transmission option.
If it really bothers you, place the router in a metal box, that’ll block most if not all of the signal.

Its debatable, but you’d have to be very very close to these low-power milli-watt transmitters,
like antenna in your ear close 24/7, and that’d be just weird.
A funky 600 Watt microwave with broken seals would be a much bigger worry.
Throw that old sucker out, and don’t watch the food cook!

The world is also filled with thousands upon thousands of crazy people……

Most wireless routers will allow you to disable the wireless feature.

Most routers also allow you to unscrew the antennas (to install larger ones), and they tend to be quite poor at transmitting signals without antennas.

You got bigger things to worry about then microwave signals from a router harming your children.

Thanks for all replies..Just a normal question..Yes there r million things to worry about..Like almost getting kill everytime I drive..or using cellphone often can harm u..to things like don't drink water from bottle that been sitting inside your car for many hot days.

Just today I was eating a piece of bread and I found it taste funny...Took a look at the bread and there were grey fungus on it...I immediately spit it out and brush teeth (twice). :(

- Using your cellphone won't harm you... your microwave puts out more radiation than a cell phone and people still use tho.

- Water bottle in a car? That's because the bacteria that you put on the edge of bottle will grow into something worse in the heat.

- Fungus on bread doesn't hurt you just tastes disgusting.

You seem to be a person who believes way to much of the media hype.

The grey fungus was penicillin.

A bit hypochondric I'd say.
