Wireless Router Recommendations
Looking for recommendations for a decent wireless router.
- decent signal strength and reception
- dual band a/b/g/n capable
- excellent security capability
open source (openwrt, ddwrt, tomato, etc) capable a definite plus but not an absolute requirement
If you got the coin...the Asus RT-AC66U. Its redonkulously good. If not interested in 802.11AC...the RT-N66U is damn fine kit too. :)
RT-N66U got really nice benchmarks and I was going to pick one up from MemEX but they only had an open box one. If you don't need dual band, a RT-N16 would do nicely too. External antennas really made a difference compare to my old Linksys E3000.
just bought an asus RT-N53. its not too bad either for something in the midrange.
RT-AC66U user here. This thing has increased my quality of life.
Did you pair it with the PCE-AC66 pci-e adapter like I did? I LOVE this combination...and cant wait for the '68 router to land so I can review it too! /whistle
ASUS RT-N66U would be my recommendation too. Great router, no complaints thus far and I run shibby's Tomato build on it too.
Thanks for the suggestions folks. I'll look into them.
N66U $100 on Amazon US.
The Router Known As The Dark Knight Is Your Deal of the Day
I recently got the Mikrotik router the elites at NCIX keep raving about:
Huge learning curve though. If you're willing to learn, this is the one to go for. Costs me about $160 all in.
I was considering the RT-N16 previously, but I said **** it. If I'm already spending $100+, just get the best and never buy a router again.
