That would suck. Snowstorms and bad weather is usually when I want the internet the most...

fortkentdad how far are you from local ISP lines in your area

reason asking had a customer run a line from main land to his cottage (spent 35000)

with same issue of outage

is it worth it over satellite internet outage

He doesn't have satellite its called rural internet. There is a central hub that sends out the the radio signals to peoples homes who then receive it through a satellite.

Its shoddy at best and I am surprised Macjunk isn't around to moan about it.

Oh I've looked at my options ~ we live on the wrong side of the technological divide in this country. As far as I know there is no line I can tap into anywhere near here. I guess it is better than the USB gizmo that we plug into the laptop when we are on the road, it is even slower.

Country life is great - our internet service, well not so much. At 2 to 4 mbps I am able to surf the internet reasonably well, can view Youtube if I let lit load first, and download bigger files overnight so it is functional. I have not tried playing on line games - I'll have to give it a try sometime but have not done so yet. Not sure if it would work, I guess I won't know until I try it.

FYI - todays speed 3.2 MBPS - a terrible normal day right in the middle of my range.

I would suspect this is some QoS issue on the ISP side, can you verify the dBm coming from the dish?

If you can verify a correlation between the speed you are receiving and your reception (dBM) then there would be some cause for concern, but it looks like you always return to similar speeds so I would believe either a load issue on your particular distribution point or the ISP backhaul.
