Default Best Router under $100

Hello all..

Currently I am using the router/modem all in one supplied by eastlink. I had it free for 6 months so I took it. Now that I am paying 3.95 or something a month for this i don't feel it's worth it. What would be the best router to get for under 100 bucks?

This is what I am considering (ASUS - RT-N56U) but it's a bit more than i want to spend

Thanks for your input!

Gigabit ports?
USB for printer?

EDIT: Just check and its a yes to both. This might have to be a consideration. My only problem is it only like 10 bucks less than the 56u

The N56U does offer 5GHz WiFi though, whereas the N16 does not.

N16 can run Tomato/DD-WRT though, I don't believe the N56U can.

I have been thinking of upgrading my router for a while, but I am having a hard time paying $100+ when I know wireless AC is going to be the norm in the not too distant future. Might wait for a sale and bite the bullet and buy a Asus rt-ac66u.

one problem how are you going to connect to internet with RT-N56U when it not supporting coxial cable

you still need a cable modem to hook to internet, buy out right...you loose support from eastlink

so what's your modem not doing now that you need the Asus ?

cheap Surfboard SB6121 to use with your Asus

I can goto the eastlink store and they will exchange the modem/router combo and give me just a modem. That way i am not paying a monthly fee for the router.
