Default Dlink DIR857 issues

I bought another dlink router, Because my 655 did great for the last 4 years.

Now im having issues with the wireless on the 857. Our tablets, My PS3, Run perfect on the Wifi but our to Asus K72F A1 laptops cant connect to the network.

These K72F A1 are wireless N but i dont think they are duel band. The drivers are uptoo date on the laptop too.

Anyhelp setting this up would be great, Or ill be sending it back.

Can it see the wireless network you're trying to connect to?

Is the Dlink set to mix-mode N and G? Can you connect to the network when the playstation is NOT connected?

On firmware 1.03.

I have 2.4 and 5 Ghz on their own.

When im in the room with the router, The laptops connect No problem, When i got upstairs(1 floor up)
I cant connect.

Range might be the huge issue.

Something with an external antenna that you can attach some directional foil to, if you're having reception issues.

you need to scan the channels to see which one is used the least and set your router to use that. Next, pick a corner of your place to set the router up. Then attach a parabolic reflector to the antenna (or the entire router) and point it towards the opposite corner of your place. This should give you adequate signal.
