Question Hide my ass

Hi !
I wanted to talk about a Chrome extension that i've found called : Hide my ass.
Basically, it's an extension that allows you to use a proxy when browsing the internet.
But since i'm new to all this, i'm not sure how to configure it. And i'm not even sure if it's worth it !
I mean... do you know if it... works ?
I'd like to have some feedbacks on that extension, or, i you guys can point me towards a better proxy (or hide IP) extension...
Thank you all !

EIDT : i really like the fact that this is just an extension... and i'd like to keep it that way

Meh. You really want to be (more) secure. Download and use TOR. It even comes with its own custom FF browser...so there is no config to deal with. Use it for other stuff...and your 'normal' browser for the mundane

This will hide just your browsing activities not everything else that happens through your internet and it isn't encrypted. If these are good enough for you then give it a shot.

the thing about proxies is that it will most likely be slow when you are browsing. and like AkG suggested tor is what I have used in the past

Just use www.startpage.com will do what that app does and no configuration required. to google the searches are from startppage and to your computer its startpage.

as for tor i would never trust it. who do you think sets up the servers.. cia perhaps well some food for thought

rofl...yeah and like the CIA - which is bollocks, it was (ex)NSA employees who came up with the idea...and then set it free into the wild - would give a rats ass if the OP was smurfing porn. As long as you dont rely upon TOR to cover illegal acts (which are bad m'kay) it is more than good enough. IF you are a 'cyber kingpin' in training....rofl. Good luck with that! :P

Just a side note: Tor is for anonimity. It isnt anymore secure than a regular browser.
So please dont use Tor for your internet transactions.

All right guys thanks for the feedback. And don't worry i dont plan any kind of criminal activity ;) I just want to be free : anonymous and secure...
As for Tor, i really don't trust it... i heard about those exit nodes and... yeah... **** that ! I've been using HydeMyAss for a few days now... and God it's slow !
But as far a security goes, for money transaction, as soon as your brother displays HTTPS, isns't it enough ? I mean, i heard HTTPS is damn hard to crack !
Any thoughts on that ?
