Need a Web Host

Hello all,

Looking for a web host to service both my own website and my girlfriend's home(on the side) business. Web traffic is hard to estimate...but I don't expect either site will require very much. But a host with the ability to easily upgrade service would be great. Both sites will be HTML+CSS only...no flash or gigantic pictures.

So some things I require:

- Host can provide domains (need .ca and .com)
- Host is located in Canada (I always choose "Pages From Canada" in Google when searching businesses)
- Anything over 500mb storage is plenty
- Allow more than one domain to point to the site
- I would like both sites to exist on the same host so I can administer them easily
- Gonna say > 5GB monthly traffic
- Cost: I'd like it as cheap as possible...I will be buying two domains for each site

It's been awhile since I have had a site, so thank you all in advance for the help.

sounds like something your ISP should be able to handle on the cheap

Cheap and hosted in Canada seldom go together. Prices for quality hosting here are like rates for cell phone and broadband - overpriced for the most part. Also a word of advice - do not get and register you domain names with the same company you host with. In the event of future disagreements over hosting you may find your domains "held hostage".

It's been a while since I've done significant Canadian only hosting but for your needs it sounds like Netfirms.ca would probably suit you. If you were ok with a US based host I can recommend the one I've been with for the last 6 years :)

For a Canadian based domain registrar I can recommend Baremetal.ca. I have been using them for several years and their service is great.

Addendum: A friend just mentioned that CrocWeb.com might suit your needs. He is correct, they are Canadian based and about as cheap as you could hope for here. Be advised however, they have a very restrictive terms of service. Even so far as to prohibiting forums and honouring US DMCA requests despite the fact it has no effect in law in Canada.

I use 10dollar.ca for domain hosting and tera-byte.com for hosting the websites. I agree with NyteOwl, keep them separate.

I have a a domain registered through Tera-Byte and have used some of their services. They are not the cheapest but service has been good.
