In search of a new ISP

Well since rogers and bell is a pain, my parents have tasked me to look for a new ISP! Teksavvy atm is not avaliable in my area (Sad Face..), I live in a fairly new neighborhood in Vaughan. Soo... any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

I've had two ~24h outages in the past 6 months. And it sometimes gets sluggish during "peak" hours (evening time). They are having some major issues with the amount of traffic hammering the POIs lately and are provisioning more 10GbE links, but Rogers likes to take their time with doing TekSavvy related things. TekSavvy only has email support that is best-effort basically. There's no SLA by any means from what I've read.

So it's definitely not without it's faults. TekSavvy is trying their best though and I can't fault them for that.

To the OP, do you have Rogers and Bell lines coming to your house? If so, then DSL should be available to you from TekSavvy or one of the many others like Acanac, Primus, etc. Cable is iffy since they're still sorting out contracts on expansion. If you head over to the DSLReports forums, you can probably find when your area might be coming online.

Teksavvy just very very recently came to Ajax, so they are expanding. But I have heard the complaints that JD has mentioned about laggy speeds during peak times. I am hoping that Ajax won't get too congested.

Teksavvy should be available in Vaughn soon... Check DSL Reports for more info.

You can always give 3Web/Acanac a try too. But Vaughn, you're pretty much limited to a cable distributor as far as I know.

how about Acanac? i had only one outage in 12 months with them

Anyone else here have anything to chim in?

Is there a way to get out of their ridiculous startup fees?

i'm in a small town, Port Carling and just got teksavvy last thursday, good so far.
havn't noticed any torrent throttling but the teksavvy agent in my area (friend of mine) said its random where they (bell) throttles, something about hubs and routing stations bla bla bla.
