Default What do I forward?

When I'm forwarding a port do I forward TCP or UDP? or both? Also sometimes when port forwarding it says "can't leave IP field blank" Do I just enter my normal IP in there or? If I enter my normal IP it gives me the error The 4th address of IP address must be an integer.:(

...that depends on what protocol the service/deamon that you are forwarding the port needs and for tha IP that is probably only the machine that the port is redirected to

Internet -> Router -> Machine that runs the service (the IP address is this machine's)

as stated above that is basically how it works. Say you wanted to run a SSH server on your computer.

Computer IP =
Port to Forward = 21 TCP/UDP

You would setup a rule that forwards Port 21 on TCP/UDP Protocol to IP If you do a Google search you can easily find lists of the valid ports as some are reserved for certain services. (i believe ports from 1 to 1024 are the reserved ones) Having said that you can run services off non standard ports if you want but it sometimes requires extra configuration to get it to seamlessly work.
and now for something completely different

both, leave upnp on or turn it off if youre having issues.

leave the seeds per unit below 300,id actually set them around 75-125.

total number of connections maybe below 3-5k.

ddwrt is your frend, if supported.
