usually i find modems being the biggest culprit, if you have a decent router to boot with. the new linux thingie will help, if ithere is room to help.

i tweaked a few modems from not being able to torrent to torrent+browsing without issues/major issues.

I'm using a linksys wrt54gl with DD-WRT firmware

The instructions should still be accurate. You need to go to the administration tab

10 Mb/s DL isn't much, is that what you are consistently getting....or what your paying for "up to" ?

There is a big difference. Sometimes your lucky to get 30% of your available DL speed (depends on several factors).

Also, how much Bandwith is required for optimal experience with WOW?

Your problem could be as simple as not enough Bandwith, choked/disrepair Nodes...

How old is your router? They get tired just like everything else.

What's the difference between port forwarding and port triggering. It seems that port triggering is safer to use as the ports are only open when required, but no one ever talks about port triggering.

@OP. If your WRT54G can run DD-WRT, do it. No need to thank me.

Port Triggering is not considered....reliable I guess is the best way to put it. I always compare Port Triggering to a Smoke Stack you see on Truck Rigs, the exhaust pipe with the flapping cover on top.

Thing is with Port Triggering is that it dosn't always work correctly.
