Need new router

Well I finally convinced my dad to leave bell and go to cogeco. But I need a new router since we had bells modem/router combo. Anyway I need a router that has a nice range and that doesn't hurt download speeds. Have about 100 to spend.

i personally love the wrt54gl with tomato or dd-wrt. But it doesn't support 802.11n not sure if that's an issue or not. they are usually in the $50-70. If not i would suggest looking into netgears prosafe line.

I have a WRT54G with the Tomato firmware and can recommend it for 802.11G networks. It works great and the 3rd party firmwares offer alot of options.

If you're looking for a Draft 802.11N product check out the ASUS RT-N16 which is supported by DD-WRT and has a 533 MHz Broadcom 4718 processor and 128 MB ram. The only disadvatage is that it isn't dual band, although the chip supports it.

For dual band take a look at the Linksys WRT400N, or the WRT610N. These are both above $100. The WRT400N is cheaper if you can do without a Gigabit switch. I bought the WRT610N, but it is still being delivered so I can't really say to much about it. I'm going by the smallnetbuilder.com review.

I'd say go with the ASUS RT-N16 and put DD-WRT on it. Then you'll have one powerful router.

I'm thinking of the asus or the wrt54gl but I like that I cab add a HD to the asus and IRS wireless n.
