My System Specs

Default Router not stable

I have a cheapy Linksys wireless G router WRT54G or something like that, when downloading or when multiple people are using it it can occaisonally crash. I've tried updating the firmwire but no luck.

Anyways I'm looking for a reliable, stable wireless router to fix this. Any recommendations would be appreciated!

Typical Linksys.

Is it the WRT54G or WRT54GL?

If its the 54G buy the WRT54GL and upload Tomato firmware best combo out there.

You might want to check as you MAY be able to put Tomato on the 54G

Tomato Firmware | polarcloud.com

It appears it works for all of them, I'll give it a shot before I go spend some money :P Thanks!

I run the GL with stock firmware and have never had a single issue or minute of downtime in over a year. I rely heavily on my router as well since I use Vonage for my home phone.

Consider yourself lucky.

Older 54G/GL would puke and lock under extreme load.

Ugh, I have version 8 of the router, therefore the firmwire will not work. Looks like I'll be buying a new one. Any suggestions then?

70 bucks and Canada Computers, nice and convenient. Thanks for the help, obvious use the Tomato firmwire with it as well.
