plan to get another router
SmallNetBuilder - Small Network Help - Yes, the Linksys WRT54G V5 Really Is a Lousy Router

i start realize that its important to have good router...

so i did read a few articles... and check the chart... i am not expert at network and little confuse which is good and suit for me and family...

i just need it for bittorrent (i am heavily torrent user) and game (low ping because of halo pc...)

older router would be better... low budget up to 50cdn (probably from used) unless reasonable and new model...

btw... please tell me which is best 3rd party firmwire to use... (i believe its better to use than factory)

My D-Link DGL-4300 handles tons of torrents + online gaming fine. Though I doubt you're going to find it for $50. I got it cause I wanted gigabit LAN and it was like the only option back then.

SmallNetBuilder - Small Network Help - D-Link DGL-4300 Wireless 108G Gaming Router

i found 4500 for 150

so i dont know about this...

i look at some new "N" router for cheap price... so whats up... i mean... is new router better than old g router? or "n" just expand wireless distance... not better preformance?

edit: SmallNetBuilder - Small Network Help - Cheap Draft 802.11n Router Roundup

overall best router is dlink dir-625... for 60cdn...?

Well going by his reviews, he says N is no where near perfect yet where as G is pretty much at it's peak IMO.

Unless all your clients are N, I'd just stick to G for now.

Just to make things clear ... the WRT54G and the WRT54GL are not the same router.

jdrom, i see... i think that too...

yes i know... L stands for linux plus with better ram, etc

apologize for double post... want to update the post...

i find v4 wrt54g for 30 in my local area... i still have no idea which is better model... i just guess $600 features to $60 router is better than average router...

before i buy it... i am curious... how bad d-link dl-524 is?

i remember that my mom's computer wireless adapter had loading cpu problems... and cant use WEP or other security or i will get stupid limited connectivity blah... but maybe 3rd party firmwave will solve this problem... eh?

ps. i believe no one wants to sell used wrt54gl :\
