Default Should I buy this laptop without it being on sale?

I'm looking to purchase a laptop from Best Buy. It's price is $999.99. My dilemma is whether or not to buy it without it being on sale, or if I should even be considering this model at all. Best buy has new sales every week, and if I buy it now without it being on sale, they will give me the discount at a later time if it does go on sale within 2 weeks of my purchase. However it may not go on sale within that time period. I am also wondering if $999.99 for this laptop is already a deal.

Some specs:
Approximate Battery Life: 3 Hours
Hard Drive Speed/Capacity: 320GB 5400RPM
Processor Speed: 2GHz
Processor Type: Intel Core 2 Duo T5750
RAM: 4GB
Screen Size: 15.4"
Expandable Video Memory: Yes - Up To 358MB
Graphics Chipset: Intel GMA X3100
Battery - Capacity 4000 mAh
Battery - Number of Cells 9
Battery Type Lithium-Ion

I know it doesn't have great graphics but what level gaming do you think it could do?

The exact laptop and complete list of specifications can be found at:
http://www.bestbuy.ca/catalog/proddetail...

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Edit: I'm looking for a high end laptop without the price tag

I noticed that the Hard Drive Speed/Capacity is smaller than the one I was looking at. Will this impact the performance much? I noticed it also doesn't have discrete video memory.

actually the graphics spec is exactly the same, only the HDD size/speed is different, speed wise you won't notice much
unless your really picky about those things.

Thanks. I would like at least 250, preferably 320 Hard Drive Speed/Capacity, 4gb ram and Discrete Video Memory but yeah, I don't want to pay way too much just for that stuff. Do you know of anything with those features for under $1000? I may have to consider your recommendation though...it seems to get quite a lot for $650

external hdd aren't that much. if you put it together yourself you can get an enclosure for $30 and a WD 250GB hdd for $55
Canada Computers - Hard Drive Enclosures > 3.5" Enclosures : Antec AC MX-100 Aluminum Hard Drive Enclosure .
Canada Computers - Hard Drives > Desktop Drives > 3.5" SATA Drives : Western Digital Caviar (WD2500AAKS) 250GB SATAII 7200RPM 16MB Buffer (OEM).

for a while on my old system I was even installing games on a USB hdd drive, they played okay.

The closest I could get was this for $999.99:
Best Buy Canada Web Store: Computers: Laptops: Gateway 15.4" Laptop featuring Intel Core 2 Duo T5750 2.0GHz (M-6864FX)

Same CPU, 4gb ram, discrete ATI HD 2600 video card, 200gb (smaller but faster at 7200rpm compared to 5400rpm)
