I wonder how much this laptop cost? Suppose to release in Nov. The interesting thing is embeded Linux OS...suppose to save power enable laptop to run much longer, since it doesn't use the hardisk.

Dell Latitude E4200 feature full Linux SUSE desktop 10 on low-power ARM+flash memory

It's like ExpressGate from Asus motherboard.

Yeah, Acer's fine as long as you get their higher-end stuff (Ferrari and Cinema lines come to mind as good quality units). The amount of junkware that they install is frustrating, though. I don't like booting up a unit, opening Task Manager, and seeing 85 processes running on a fresh install

With the problems Toshiba has been having lately, I wouldn't touch anything they make w/ a 10-foot-pole until they fix their quality control issues. So many DOAs, it's not even funny and it's not like they have a stellar long-term reliability record, either.

The Dell Inspiron 1420s have been having issues like crazy. However, the Inspiron 1525 and XPS M1330 that we sell have been above average.

HP has been very good the past few quarters. Compaqs have a few more issues than HP due to the cheaper components used, but overall, they're still above average.

Sony is good as always, though their support is definitely the absolute worst in the industry.

We just started selling Gateway, so I don't have a lot of history or experience w/ problems, but the units we have seem pretty decent for the coin.

We get a surprisingly high number of Apple laptops back w/ hardware problems, especially the Macbooks. I'm quite fond of the Macbook Pro, though.

Overall, I'd say HP, Dell, and Sony would be your safest bets for brand choice.

It's $849 onsale $699
Question..It say have GMA 3100 graphic with integrated video memory 384MB. Is this better than the Geforce 8200M??
Also, is the Intel C2D T5750 better than AMD Turion X2 RM-70?

Still leaning on this one though since only cost $600

it's like this...

HP's consumer line is all garbage...tho there are several dvxxxx lines that are popular. same story with Acer. if it's an xx20 line, it's going to be good. if it's something else, avoid them.

everything Lenovo makes is good. HP/Compaq's business line rocks. you can find decent units for a fair price too.

how much can you realistically spend on this and what all do you plan on doing with the laptop?

Thanks for the reply..I just want to spend between $600-$700. Just need the laptop to watch movies (some 720p), surf the net, word processing and run Photoshop (for simple edit tasks)..No game though..would like the spec to have 3GB memory, 250GB HD +, Wifi with Draft-N and HDMI output..

How can I tell which HP & Compaq is for business?
When u said Acer xx20 line, u mean this one?

For Lenovo, how about this model?
