My System Specs

Default HTC One M8 or Galaxy S5?

I'm in the market for a new phone. I'm coming from a Galaxy SII LTE (skyrocket). I like either the HTC One M8 or the Galaxy S5.

Pros and Cons for each:

Pros for the S5:
I'm familiar with Samsung's Touch-wiz UI
kick-ass camera
awesome display
waterproof
great battery life

Cons for S5:
Pretty crappy industrial design
waterproofing makes accessing the charging port a PITA

Pros for HTC:
EPIC industrial design
almost as good screen and battery as the Samsung.
decent camera

Cons for the HTC:
Unfamiliar UI (not that it would take long to get used to).

So, which phone do you think I should go for? I'm leaning towards the HTC one because the industrial design outweighs the other considerations for me.

I got the M8 right now and it's a gorgeous phone. Nothing beats it from a design and material standpoint, even Apple I would say.
Battery life is excellent on the phone and Sense 6 is great. I've always kinda hated touchwiz and next to the stock Android experience, the sense UI was my fave. It's modern looking, fast and customizable enough to fit your needs. I never use the camera on any of my phones, so I can't really comment on it.
The S5 does have a phenomenal screen, but the design is boring and the materials are nowhere near as good as HTC.
Plus with a microsd slot in the M8, storage should never really be an issue.

Yeah, a lot of the features the S5 have (heartrate monitor, waterproofing, upgraded camera, etc) are features I don't really use.

I'm really thinking going to the HTC One.

From my experiences with both Samsung and HTC I'd go HTC. Many of my co-workers had Samsung S3 and S4 models that seemed to slow down over time and lose stability after O/S and touchwiz updates. The HTC One M7 I've had now for over a year is going strong and is seemingly as fast as the day I bought it.

Outside of the sub-par Bluetooth voice application (Cyberon voice commander, which sucks) the phone is awesome.

Yeah, I picked up the One (m8) two days ago.

So far, I'm loving it. The thing is blazing fast, and looks awesome, too! I'm not regretting my decision for one second!
