Eh, my pleasure Steve. Tethering works quite well over wireless (never tried the USB version), though it's a battery killer. I use the feature a lot when camping, setting up a secure Hot spot.

I was using the USB for a little while when I was doing one of my various moves and had already packed up the network cables. This way the battery never went dry as it was charging at the same time.

Now that I've got my feet wet, I'm tempted to pick up one of these to play with (Bell Huawei Ascend Y300 Prepaid Smartphone - Black : Huawei - Future Shop) . It's nowhere near the phone that the Samsung is, but @ $50 if I could figure out how to root it, it might make a good replacement for my current cell phone and I can keep the SGSII to myself without feeling guilty about sending my better half out with the Motorola flip phone. :)

I'm already started.... :)

[Guide] Huawei Ascend Y300 Unlock & Root - xda-developers

Description here WRT how to get the unlock codes direct from the manufacturer. Once I get those I'll have another look at custom roms.

I have to say though... @ $50 + $20 for a 32G SD card this thing makes a pretty good stand-alone device for the price. Memory and storage are abysmal (512M and 4G internal) but as an MP3 player / wireless connected remote / general in-home browser it seems to be working reasonably well. My biggest concern is whether or not the device is smart enough to make use of the SD's extra storage space for things like recording audio / video, or if it'll remain handicapped by the low internal memory.

I've got a feeling that my better half is going to end up with the Galaxy as it's already unlocked / works with my rogers paygo sim, but I'll leave that up to her. If I do decide to try to use the Bell phone on the rogers network... do any of our members have suggestions WRT legit/safe websites to use for unlock codes? (As far as I can tell such things are still legal in Canada, but if they're not and encroach on piracy issues please let me know and I'll remove my request/reference).

Actually... considering the fact that it's now apparently illegal in the US to unlock a phone, it'd be better if folks dropped me a pm rather than posting a link.... ;)
