Default nvidia drivers on a dell laptop

I want to update the drivers on my Dell laptop I just bought but when I ran the auto scan for the drivers it said something about I should use Dell drivers becasue of possible power settings the thing is that the drivers at dell are pretty old.
I do know that becasue the laptop has Nvidia quadro fx360m on it but will there be a problem using actual nvidia drivers

Like I have said before no this usually does not work on laptops as the device ID for laptops is generally different than that of which nvidia has. Yes sometimes they work but more often than not they do not work.

Took me a few on a Dell I have but you can find the NVidia drivers , or use their auto detect software (which is pretty awesome) and have it find the drivers for you.

Worked wonders for me,

Not Nvidia, but I believe the concept is the same... I've had major issues using the latest updated cats on my AMD laptop even though the suggestions to update them have come from both the AMD compatibility tool as well as windows updates. Generally buggers up the ability to switch between performance and power saving 2D modes (dual cards).

I got burnt a couple of times with having to delete the drivers so now I just stick with the latest version on the website.

I'd stick with the Nvidia drivers on that one Shadow, I do not think Dell had a good listing of Win7 drivers for that specific model. It doesnt have anything fancy like model graphics-switching technology, so I wouldn't worry about the power saving features (Really it is probably just a Dell power configuration to set the machine to sleep earlier and things like that).

I just like not having anything extra years ago I bought a Dell 8300 desktop which came with win xp and all of the crap wear with it at that time I didn't know to ,much about PCs but after a while I found out about the extra things they added which is why I was asking about the nvid drivers.
as it is I dropped in a older SSD which had the plastic sata connector broken off but it works perfectly in this laptop because it slides and locks in place. I then install a slimmed down version of windows 8.1 ( no store crap and boots to the desktop) it is very very fast now
