I wonder if a discount will be given when buying online as a business?? Worked for my monitor.
Hmm they are not listed on my Dell Premier account site, but let me check the Partner site.

Nope, no discounts right now :(

That being said, 2 years of Accidental Damage Protection is only $59.... not bad!

No wait, wrong again! I did find them on Dell Premier site. No actual discounts, however I see that upgrading to 32GB of storage on the Venue 8 from 16GB is free :)

Loving my Venue Pro so far. Using a micro-USB to USB adapter to a 360 controller. Able to play indie games on Steam w/ Big Picture.

It is the 8". I carry my tablets everywhere I go so anything larger is too big. Honestly after using a small tablet so long anything larger feels heavy as a brick.

I just can't bring myself to buy an Atom tablet with only 1366x768 resolution. After having 1440p on my desktop, and now 1080p on my T440s (even smaller pixels!), I can't go the other way.

Any noticeable lag with the Atom in day-to-day usage?

The screen is actually 1280x800 but @ 8" it has a pretty high DPI. I definitely wouldn't ever need more. Definitely since I never use Desktop-mode. It absolutely sucks w/o a keyboard + mouse. Although you can easily use a bluetooth keyboard and mouse.

As for performance? It is pretty fantastic for a $300 tablet. I have never found it laggy besides in Steam big picture / games. It can cold boot in about 6-7 seconds. Resuming from sleep is instantaneous.

Unfortunately they only had the 30GB (23GB after format) when I purchased it. After the Windows and Office install you get only a few GB of usable space. I am going to order a 64GB microsd card here right away. Then I'll try out XBMC and Lightroom on it .

EDIT: Installed XBMC. I am able to stream 1080P bluray MKV rips no problem. Honestly 720p+ looks brilliant on an 8" IPS. So vibrant and detailed .

the dell venue pro is a GREAT tablet. it's pretty much the windows version of the nexus 7 2012 (in terms of awesomeness relative to the previous generation - this being the surface RT*). the best design decision? making the start button a dedicated side button (like how power and volume are); you NEVER accidentally hit it now.

* surface RT used RT, but it WAS the flagship tablet. the surface pro was MS's flagship laptop/2-in-1; not a dedicated tablet.

The Surface isn't really comparable to devices like the Venue 8 Pro. Surface and Windows RT was Microsoft trying to enter the tablet market without relying on Intel.

Intel at the time was not heavily invested into the Atom line compared to now. While full "Core" line CPUs were not suitable for the mainstream tablet market due to cost, size and power usage.

Intel with Silvermont started to firmly commit to the Atom line to tackle this new market. Silvermont benefits from a significant design changes and a hefty process shrink from 45nm to 24nm (skipping 32nm, that was how far behind Atom was previously). The result is roughly 2x CPU performance and 3x GPU performance gain over 1 generation (Bay Trail vs Clover Trail). They are also subsidizing costs to help penetrate the market (both in terms of per unit, and helping with fixed device costs).

MS is also surely helping to subsidize on software licensing costs (with Windows and Office) on these devices as well. Notice for example how all 2gb Bay Trail tablets come with Office (Venue 11 Pro Core cpu variants for example drop this).

Lenovo's upcoming Thinkpad 8 will have a 1920x1200 resolution, a slightly faster CPU, and micro HDMI out but no Stylus support and more expensive.

Asus Vivotab 8 will be similar to the Venue 8 Pro but with a Wacom digitizer instead.

More Bay Trail devices were announced at CES recently.
