Glad the cheaper option worked out for you, but I forgot to mention that these 3rd party surface treatments don't last nearly as long as the stuff on Gorilla glass. (500+ high pressure screen wipes IIRC) You'll have to reapply it - how often depends on usage and how much/hard you wipe down the screen.

NP... dynaflo claims to be good for 6 months, but I'm including a package of dynaflo in the secondary "tablet care package" gift box so the recipients will be able to re-apply as necessary.

My own personal experience with the dynaflo is that the 24 hour hardening time makes a huge difference in "glide" (the box claims that you can use it after 10 minutes) and that folks should expect to put some quality buffing time into the surface once the 24 hour period is up.

I've got both the OG Nexus 7 and the Memopad HD. I got the Memopad because I dropped the Nexus Lol... just gotta find a cheap screen replacement. I do like the Nexus in how it feels in hand, and the basic out-of-the-box cleanliness of the OS, but that being said, it didnt take me long to get the MemoPad cleaned up and working how I like it. I've noticed sligtly better battery life out of the Memopad however. It is a great little unit, especially priced at $158, thats pretty darn hard to beat!

Won't find a cheap screen replacement for the Nexus. The glass and lcd are SUPERGLUE together like no other and the cheapest you'll find on ebay as a replacement is $120. Drop a Nexus 7.. buy a new one.

Did you do anything with the screen itself on the memo? I really found a difference once I applied the dynaflo.

Nah, I actually dont mind the stock surface. I'm not really big on keeping things pristine and new, I'm pretty hard on my tech. Hence why I have a Nokia Lumia 800 haha. It's a beast. I might stick with the Memopad just because I think it will handle wear and tear better than the Nexus.

I ordered one in pink this morning for my daughter for Christmas. I don't think you can beat it at that price.

They've been $139.99 the past month at Amazon.ca.

They still are, just on backorder which should be fine if they're Xmas gifts.

EDIT: hope you don't mind the salt in the wound. I'm just disinfecting.
