Well looks like while waiting for a better deal on phones Virgin Mobile and Fido both pulled their 600mb/month 40$ plans. If I want that much data and not to pay an arm and a leg I'll need to look at mobilicity or wind mobile...

Don't go with either of those, both are on the verge of dying off.

Yup, the whole "2yr contract" stuff mandated by the CRTC went into full force today it seems. Basically means higher prices for everyone as they justify it as being necessary to now cover the increased cost of subsidizing phones.

At least Harper isn't going to change the loopholes that allow foreign investors to come in and take over wireless spectrum. Granted I don't think the rumours of Verizon coming would do us any good. They'd just charge the same as the Big 3 anyways.

Your only hope is for some BTS deals in the coming weeks leading up to September. My $60 6GB plan seems to get better and better with time that I signed up for last year around this time.

Yeah I know right? I got it during BTS season last year.
  • 300 anytime minutes
  • Unlimited evenings (5pm) and weekends
  • Unlimited incoming
  • Unlimited text/pic to Canada, US, International
  • 6GB
  • CID/VM

It's kind of astonishing how "good" a deal that is in today's market. Sad how things have progressed.

Hmm I've been looking at Primus' website and they have some pretty good deals right now:
Weekday Minutes: 200 Canada-Wide
Evening & Weekend Minutes: UNLIMITED 6 PM
Data Included: 500 MB
Text Messages: UNLIMITED Text, Picture and Video Messages (Canada & International)
Features Included: Voicemail, Call Display, Name Display, Call Waiting & Conference Calling
1 or 2 year plans at 20$ for 6 months, then only 40$/month after that. 120$ in savings. Would they be worth buying a phone (say the N4) and trying them out as they seem to have great coverage, especially in the GTA.
