Default Why hasnt RT died yet?

How does RT still exist in today's world. The entire point of a Windows tablet is that you get access to Windows applications. Sure initially RT may have been for power and battery life concerns but has not Atom completely displaced it, why is Microsoft still pushing this watered down OS?

They don't want to admit that it was a terrible idea.

They are still trying to re-coup the dev costs in all likelyhood and the numbers are at a point where they are still on course to do that even if it isn't a success.

I'm guessing it's because they don't want Windows 8 to run on a ARM processor and confuse just about everyone in which app is compatible to what processor.
