So how do you nuke and reinstall if you don't have the original laptop disks? Is there a way to find the existing windows key code on the laptop and use a generic win 7 install disk? Finding all the right drivers got to be a pain in the butt too. The toshiba site is not very helpful.

Usually the windows key code should be written on the bottom of the laptop, usually near the model/serial number area.

this is exactly what you do, you can download windows 7 for free at one of the MS site ( I don't remember exactly where) and just use that key.
