New laptop with 1000$ budget?

Basic requirements:

- 15", or 17" - being a desktop replacement laptop
- Don't care about weight
- 720p fine, 1080p even better
- AMD or Intel, don't care
- Med. gaming (BF3, Skyrim) but not heavy on the details
- DVD reader not required
- USB3, Fingerprint reader, Bluetooth all nice-to-haves
- Gigabit network
- Wireless N
- Windows 7

No particular brand preference, but I do like Lenovo's build quality, and Dell's Customer Support.
Special attention to proper cooling, since it will be powered 24/7.

With that 1000$ budget, what would be your weapon of choice? I'm kinda overwhelmed with the choices, and I don't know much about mobile GPU performance.

The 17R would be one of the better choices. You hit the nail right on the head though, either Dell or Lenovo would be my choice at that price range and what you want in it. I can't really offer any sorts of suggestions however, most people buying laptops here cringe at a $500 price tag, let alone $1000.

Yup, and that Lenovo W520 that is EOL (with a K2000M GPU / i7) for 850$ is not shabby either.

Laptops have a Repair center in both Richmond(Diawa I think its called) and Markham(MSI Direct). If you have a issue with a MSI laptop my Mentor and University professor who hired me at Asus is now with MSI and leads their Laptop Division. If you ever had any issue I could take care of it for you post haste.

I suggest you go through the Lenovo site. They Y580 is now on sale AND you can properly select better coverage options:

I don't like the 16Gb mSata SSD. For any laptop, I'll swap the HDD with an Intel 520 I have on hand.

Lol,fail.... yeah i would recommend LDLC o_o you can have GTX 660m inside for 1000$, Ok it's french but it's amazing performance for the price. Order by plane...

That Y580 actually looks pretty good, and the last few Lenovo's I've owned or played with have been pretty solid... I might pick this up too if there isn't a better suggestion.
