Picked up one of these:
MSI GE60 0ND-256US w/ Core i7-3630QM, 8GB, 750GB, DVD+/-RW, 15.6in Full HD, GeForce GTX 660M, Win 8 64-bit at Memory Express

Meets most of your criteria except for win 7 and fingerprint reader..... and price. It has a manual "high" fan mode you can set for increased cooling.

the advantages of the lenovo might be lost on a laptop that is stuck on a desk most of the time... i.e. lenovo has a superior trackpad but you will probably be using a mouse anyway. i think with your configuration the Dell has better strengths... (lcd display is probably better than the lenovo's which are typically poor). i own a T series 14" and a Vostro 17" and am happy with both. :). i would save room in the budget for an extra year of parts support... i see lots of laptops fail just after their 1year basic warranty lately

I don't have time to look around myself at the moment, but check out Sager/Clevo laptops. Great laptops, performance-wise and build quality-wise. See what kinda stuff they got for $1000.

Thanks all for the suggestions, I caved in and bought the W520, pricematched for 850$ shipped. If declined, the Dell will probably be the second choice.
Thanks for the heads-up about Eurocom - I knew them, but taught they were Europe-based with such a name... and they ship only UPS, which sucks the big one around here.

It doesn't look like anybody has mentioned it, but from personal experience I'd absolutely refuse to purchase another laptop without a non-glare screen.
