Son want's to buy a gaming laptop ...
I was willing to buy him one but not a gaming laptop ( waste of money ) but he want's to buy it on his own and I'm willing to contribute. He found this on ebay :

Alienware M11x 11 6" 320 GB Core 2 Duo 1 3 GHz 4 GB Notebook Cosmic Black | eBay

Stay away, look elsewhere ?

No mention of mGPU, and it's a low clocked C2D, I'm not sure it's worth $300.

What games does your son play? I noticed that there is no mention on the ebay ad what the video card is on that thing. If its integrated video then I would probably avoid buying that one.

Hard to get a laptop that can game properly for under $500 used. Yukontrooper has a excellent deal on a entry gamer that would be worth looking at.

Solid laptop that will be relevant for atleast the next 3-4 years.

Amazon.com: Alienware AM11X-2894CSB 11.6-Inch Laptop (Cosmic Black): Computers & Accessories GT 335M. Not a slouch by any means but I'd take the Y470 over the m11x. Much better specs overall.

Only reason to take the m11 is if you absolutely need the compact size but with cross border shipping/fees it's not worth

Where do I apply for my commission on the sale?

Mark January 16, 2013 06:42 PM

Hopefully he'll reply soon enough. I'm sure he'll send you a Starbucks card:biggrin:

depends on the game... most cases 3rd gen i5 with intel integrated graphics will do just fine. (i.e. Starcraft, diablo, civilization, etc.). FPS not so much.
