Need help picking a laptop for my folks.
So my parents are not computer friendly at all . They need something that's gonna be easy to use and durable. Price range between 500 and 600 $. They only need it for basic web browsing/webcam. They live in rural northern Quebec and only have access to the Source as a computer store. I saw a few nice ones over at NCIX but buying locally would probably be better if they have issues with the laptop. Do you guys have any experience with laptops from the Source? I browsed their website a bit and it seems like most computers come with Windows 8. I'd rather have them stick with Windows 7.
I am kind of in the same boat. Looking for that right priced laptop that is not too small, not too big, not too expensive. Kind of like this one, but also looking for some Black Friday specials so I am researching and waiting just a bit. Let me know what you find.
Newegg.com - Acer Aspire TimelineU M5-581TG-6666 Ultrabook Intel Core i5 3317U(1.70GHz) 15.6" 6GB Memory 500GB HDD + 20GB SSD HDD 5400rpm DVD Super Multi NVIDIA GeForce GT 640M LE
All new laptops come with warranty coverage so they can call for support. So, if you get it from NCIX, they still get support and since they are in Quebec, they won't pay the provincial sales tax which is ~10% savings right there.
What about $ 429 ?
I want to give you a french version too, since you say Quebec, but Dell as no French Windows 7 under $ 1400 , better order asap, Windows 7 seems to disappear quite fast.

I was thinking on the lines of this : ASUS K53U-DH21 15.6in HD AMD E-450 4GB 500GB Radeon 6320G HDMI Win7 Prem Mocha Notebook
I'm not partial to AMD or Intel, but thanks for the Dell suggestion I hadnt even thought about them. French OS is not that big of a deal , English might actually be more suitable since it'd be easier for me to troubleshoot. It's the learning how the computer actually works process that's going to be painful for them.. I mean my dad thinks he's doing "webcam" with the people in the ads and such so yea lol. I looked over at the Source again and it's kind of scary how shitty some of those laptops are. Granted it's in the 400-600 price range but still.
