Check out reflexnotebooks.ca - you can typically get more performance and value from sager/clevo notebooks than others. For example I just ordered a 17" laptop from a different Sager reseller for $1600 - 2.3ghz quad core and 7970M (which just dominates pretty much any other consumer card except the 680M).

There are several other good resellers as well - malibal.com and xoticpc.com

General FAQ on the company and a buying guide - Clevo Guide v3.0 - FAQ and Reseller Info ****READ BEFORE POSTING****

Other than them, ASUS is a good choice for sure.

personally given your budget i'd probably go with the lenovo y580 from here http://shoplenovo.i2.com/SEUILibrary...ED&action=init (if that link doesn't work manually navigate from here http://shoplenovo.i2.com/SEUILibrary...asscode=FNDEPP

Equal or better specs than the asus for 1139$ . Sager's are good like JMCD mentioned but i can't check how they compare pricewise due to reflex being down right now.

I was going to start a new thread but then i saw this one and figured i would have a look. I seen your post on the y580 and it seems to be a nice laptop.

My only question is, is it going to be ok to play games like Diablo3, GW2, WoW BL2 etc... ?

Thanks
SHiFT.

EDIT:

I am looking at this one, I am looking for a laptop at around $1000 before taxes

Newegg.ca - lenovo IdeaPad Y580 (20994EU) Notebook Intel Core i7 3610QM(2.30GHz) 15.6" 8GB Memory DDR3 1600 750GB HDD 5400rpm DVD±R/RW NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660M
