Did the rice bag thing on the 20th. 1 cup of long grain in a single zip-loc with the sim card tray pulled. Condensation disappeared in the camera lens this morning. Plugged it in 12 hours later and it fired up like a champ!

thanks all!!

The bag of rice works...what it does not seem to do is fix the long term damage. My wife`s phone was dropped in the tub with a photo/baby mishap, did the bag-o-rice trick for a few days worked like a charm.... except 6 months later her signal is 20db worse then mine in the exact same spot.... that's enough to make her phone almost unusable in many areas around us. I was thinking of trying to clean the antenna up from what I assume(hope) is only some sort of corrosion.

this will sound counter intuitive but ...

0) preheat regular oven to 100F
1) remove battery
2) rinse phone under cool clear water (distilled if possible), and as soon after being dunked or spilled on as possible - try not to elt dry before rinsing
3) same for battery.
4) turn oven off
5) carefully dry battery off and let air dry
6) dry phone as thoroughly as possible with dry cloth
7) place phone on a paper towel in the oven until most of heat has gone from oven
8) place phone in ziplock with rice overnight

That should clean out and eliminate all the moisture and if you can rinse with clear pure water, mitigate most if not all of any long term damage.

We've used this procedure with phones and two-way radios used in the field for years and it works 100% most of the time. Only occasionally, if moisture gets trapped in a tight sport or the liquid was corrosive was there later problems.
