Trying to upgrade to WirlelessN on laptop

I have an older hp v2000 laptop that has a wireless g card in it I bought a TP-LINK TL-WN861Nbut when I installed it the laptop won't let me boot into os it is telling me that it isn't compatible, I am thinking that it is because it isn't a HP product. is there anyway to get around this, I have read that other people have install this same adapter onto the same laptop by modifying the Bios but I am not sure where to find this

Yeah mainly HP and IBM/Lenovo have these BIOS locks that prevent you from changing WiFi adapters. Easiest would be to return the card and buy one off eBay that's made for HP.

Otherwise, you'll have to find a modified BIOS somewhere that removes the lock. However due to the legalities surrounding this, I think it would be best to not post links to them.
