The bloat wear doesn't surprise me at all that totally kills every Dell system out there, I am surprised at having to dismantle the whole thing just to throw in some more ram, you would think that it would be just a simple plate to get at the Hard drive, ramslots and the wireless card. I have always liked the looks of the Dell XPS systems .

Interesting review and some nice topics covered. It's a shame that they can offer all that hardware/features for base $900 and the 13" MBP is $1250 without discounts. Sure, there are some chassi, screen, and wifi differences, but it doesn't sound like $350 worth.

It sounds like they almost had a pretty good winner on their hands (and still a decent option if you can get over the initial problems).

Bloatware is nothing - Any time I encounter a DELL laptop (friends, family), I uninstall them all. That will speed-up everything and extend battery life. I'm more concerned by the display issue (viewing angles) and foremost by the inaccess of the buttom chassis. I hate latops that are hard or nearly impossible to access for these reasons:

1. I want to be able to change\upgrade the RAM, hdd and wifi easily.
2. I want to be able to change the TIM on the CPU to a better one (reducing temps)
3. Every laptops cooler gets clogged-up over time with dust - I want easy access to be able to clean it!

Honestly guys, the issue here is that some of the bloatware is actually quite useful. However, Dell set it up in such a way that it constantly pops or works in the background with with no rhyme or reason. Case and point: the DataSafe Local Backup.

Kinda disappointed in the battery life honestly; yes it does run for almost 4 hours at best, but if this thing is to compete with the likes of Apple, they really need to re-work this.

I agree . It seems to me that they just slapin the Disk and don't really set it up in a schedule or even a reminder.
