My System Specs

Default Require advice on cheap laptop options

My wife managed to break her old laptop with a liberal dousing of water. I am now required to replace the device and would like some help as I have never really ventured into mobile computing myself. She uses mainly for surfing, email, photo editing and file transfers, no gaming. Anything under $450 would be great.

Any of the cheapest laptops you can walk into Futureshop/Walmart which will be under $400 before taxes will be fine for her needs. Don't let them talk you into any extended warranties or extras, just stay firm and buy only the laptop.

Thanks for the reply, I guess I could also get her a netbook too, she seems to like the smaller devices.

With the price of laptops so low, I would not get a netbook unless she moves it around lots.

Yeah, I'm also in agreement when it comes to netbooks. I have one for my wife and had to upgrade everything to make it fast enough even for a part time user. THey should only used when ultimate portability is a requirement, the performance will let you down unless you spend big.
