Acer A5W500 - Windows Tablet

Just curious if anybody on here owns one of these...

I've been toying with the idea of picking it up (should it ever go on sale) just to play around with and load Windows 8 DEV on it.

Also, does anyone know of certified Acer refurbished outlets? There was one listed on Shopbot a few weeks back that had this tablet for like $430 or thereabouts. I can't find it anymore though...knew I should of bookmarked it

I've been running one for a couple of months now and it's pretty well all I use for my day-to-day computing. I actually went over a month without powering on my laptop after I bought this.... :)

Oh yeah? With Windows 7?

Mind posting some pictures and further thoughts? Like how well the touch response is and stuff like that. I'd rather use it without the keyboard dock as much as possible.

Granted I'm buying it more as a "toy" than a "productivity" device, but perhaps it'll evolve ;)

I'll try to get some images up for you tomorrow, I had originally intended to do a mini review, but never got around to it, so I suppose this will fill that gap. :)

As far as the touch pad goes.... It's growing on me. I almost never use the keyboard, but getting used to using standard guestures that most folks probably already know from their smart phones wasn't something I already knew so it's taking me a while to catch on.

My main reason for wanting this over an android machine was the ability to transfer over any and all of my win 7 apps... sure the C50 isn't a massively powerful dual core, but it runs all of my win 7 crap fine...... being able to run my napster service on a semi-portable device is an extra bonus as well.... :)

Hrmmmm.... wonder if that was related to the issues they had with some touchscreens going wonky? The symptoms appeared as if something was stuck in one of the corners of the touchscreen and acting as a mouse click..... I occasionally had the problem, but fortunately for me the firmware update resolved the issue for me. Some folks were not quite so lucky.

One thing I will say is that this thing is bloody heavy for a tablet.... It's also quite thick.

Yeah, the reviews I found said it was pretty chunky for a tablet, but that's to be expected when it's basically just a netbook without a keyboard.

I wonder if buying a refurbished unit is ideal then if the touchscreens were a bit flaky. I'd hope they would of fixed/revised that while refurbishing them.

Oh man...would of totally grabbed it at that price!

Too bad all the price matching policies stipulate that the item must be in-stock at the competitor...

Wonder if Best Buy would still price match it though

Sorry... didn't get a chance to get any pics / work done on the W500 front today... spent the whole day cleaning up the man cave (really needed it... :) ) and now it's time for my evening cardio...........

I'll try to get some stuff up tomorrow.

Anything in particular you'd like pics of, or information on?
