Advice for gaming laptop

Looking for a point in the right direction. I've never owned a laptop, only desktops.
I have to sell my PC and am in need of a highend gaming laptop. I'm trying to stay away from Alienware though. To expensive for what you get, to gimicky, to flashy. Cool when I was 15. looking for something more sleek and clean yet has alot of horsepower. Price range is $1500.00 - $2000.00

I've seen and used the Asus gaming series. can't go wrong, they're pretty solid.

I was leaning toward ASUS G73 or G74SX . ASUSTeK Computer Inc. - Notebooks- ASUS G74SX
Most reviews are pretty solid . Any first hand use as a consumer with this?

Used to have an older asus one the G73 it was great if a bit on the heavy side. One thing i didn't like was the lack of a DVI/DP connector for higher res monitors.

Stay far away from lenovo. I had a bad experience with one of thier "Gaming" laptops.

Also if you can find them Sager makes some nice units.

If you can buy a laptop with a cleanable dust filter, taking apart laptops is a huge pain in the ass and if it is performance it needs lot of airflow and will clog with dust quickly. if it does not come with a filter you can always buy something and attach it I guess.

Look up any of the Sager built (but often rebranded) laptops. For instance the one in my sig has been my partner on the road for nearly 2 years now. 1 cpu upgrade and 1 gpu upgrade and its still top notch. My only complaint is that with the limit of a laptop psu and laptop bios this chip cant really OC like it would in a desktop. My favorite place to oogle over laptops is xoticpc.com
