laptop for friend
he is looking for a decent laptop (not netbook because of screen size)

1. 15 to 17 inch screen
2. movie/music/surfing the internet
- decent graphic, sound and bluetooth/wifi
3. decent battery life

he is looking for up to 800cdn.. but i believe 600cdn is enough...

thats it...

btw he wants new laptop before this end of week due his broken laptop... so pick up at ncix, futureshop, bestbuy and other store

thank you for recommending one... is that only one laptop that i am looking for?

how about this Toshiba Canada - mobile computing - past products - satellite discontinued - A500 ? just found one for 450cdn locally...

Judging by the link alone, you have to be really careful as to which A500 the owner is selling. Some of the models use CPU dating back to Core 2 Duo mobile. What kind of graphic does your friend need? Does he/she game or just referring to the screen?

just screen size... he likes to watch the movie on big screen...

he mention 5-430M but i will skip a500...

I still suggest the asus one i linked :P sandybridge, decent HDD & RAM, and pretty good price. i do believe it comes with 1 year accidental warranty as well.

its not up to me... but i will trust your recommandation ;]

like i said... i just want to see more choices... i am trying to not get overkill laptop since he didnt want netbook... ;p

i also found used gaming ideapad (2630qm 8gb ram 750gb hd6570 ) which is overkilled laptop but still selling for 650... what do you think?

It sounds reasonable IMO but when I try to double check against Lenovo's website, it 500 on me. I personally don't like any used mobile computing devices since it's very likely for the mfg to deny warranty service.
